The Decameron was a compilation of one hundred novelle instructed by ten folks—7 Ladies and three Adult men—fleeing the Black Demise by escaping from Florence into the Fiesole hills, in 1348.The term “novel” emanates from the Italian expression novella, which at first intended “new” or “information” and referred to small, new tales.
